You may well have heard through the grapevine, but I thought it would be a good idea to let everyone know that I will be standing down from running the Tourism Alliance at the end of August. It has been a very difficult decision but after running the Tourism Alliance for 17 years and the sector starting to recover post covid, it seems like a good time to move on and hand over the reins to someone else. I’m working with Kate and the rest of the Exec to put a process in place to find a replacement and ensure a smooth handover.
I’ve had an extraordinary time at the Alliance and can’t begin to express my thanks to all the Chairs, Directors, Members and Colleagues who have provided so much support, guidance and friendship over the years. There can’t be a better sector than tourism to work in and I feel extremely privileged to have been part of such an exciting, dynamic and endlessly interesting industry, populated by so many genuinely nice people.
However, it’s not over yet and there is still lots to get on with both in policy terms and the Conference and the AGM on the 22nd June where I’m looking forward to seeing many of you at (and maybe sharing a beer or two).
