RCP London Events celebrates a year of growth and sustainability initiatives in 2024

The Royal College of Physicians’ award-winning London events venue, RCP London Events, is celebrating a landmark year in 2024, marked by growth and sustainability achievements.

The venue hosted an impressive 346 events in 2024, welcoming 32,705 guests and serving 304 lunches, 53 dinners, and 112 drinks receptions, showcasing the venue’s versatility in delivering memorable experiences.

June 2024 achieved a record-breaking revenue milestone, increasing by 22.95% compared to June 2023. This follows an impressive 24.48% rise from 2022, setting consecutive records over two years.

Driving Sustainability
In line with its commitment to environmental responsibility, RCP London Events introduced a series of impactful sustainability initiatives last year:

● Venue Green Taskforce: A volunteer-led team of RCP staff meets monthly to assess and improve practices, focusing on waste reduction, supplier ethics, and community engagement.

● Green Operations: The venue returned to 100% certified green electricity, achieved ECOsmart Gold certification, and introduced digital menus, significantly reducing paper waste.

● Sustainable Menus: Enhanced menu offerings prioritising vegan and environmentally friendly options, reducing reliance on high-carbon foods such as beef and lamb.

● Recycling ExcellenceThe venue maintained an 80% recycling rate due to its upgrades in waste management and staff training.

Innovative upgrades
In 2024, the Wolfson Theatre underwent a significant refurbishment, seamlessly blending sustainability with inclusivity. The redesign featured carpets made from Econyl yarn and UK-manufactured seating, alongside hand-crafted wood panelling sourced sustainably, ensuring the project prioritised eco-conscious materials. Accessibility was also at the forefront, with the addition of a motorised platform lift, advanced assisted listening technology, and live captioning to support diverse needs. The refreshed design included thoughtful elements catering specifically to neurodivergent attendees and those with mobility requirements, creating a welcoming and modern environment for all.

Additionally, the venue continued to work with caterer Company of Cooks to introduce calorie counts on menus, promoting healthier, more informed dining choices. This collaboration continued to emphasise sustainable, nutritious and delicious dining options. Complementing these upgrades, a new AV projection package was also introduced to further enhance the event experience.
