John Williams has held CEO and Director positions in the UK, Middle East and Far East. He is a former UK International Trade Director and was the UK’s Export Promoter to the Arabian Gulf.  He has owned his own business in Hong Kong, and before focusing on leadership development, spent time in oil and gas, higher education, and corporate banking.  John has lectured on Strategy and International Trade at universities across Europe, and occasionally writes about business for online publications. He gained his MBA from Northumbria, which was 2022 ‘Times Higher Education University of the Year’.

We are a registered charity governed by a board of trustees. The Institute of Leadership was founded in 1947 and reclaimed its independent status as a professional body in 2016. This independence has enabled The Institute to become closer to its members and better support their leadership development to campaign more effectively for great leadership everywhere.
