UKEVENTS Weekly Update – Martyn’s Law Draft Bill Publication + Summary Monthly Updates for April.

Publication of Martyn’s Law Draft Bill

The proposals would apply to premises which are accessible to the public and have a public capacity greater than 100 individuals. Premises in scope will include buildings and permanent outdoor premises which have a physical boundary. The Bill will also make provisions for events (e.g. festivals) which have a public capacity of 800 or more individuals, and where access to the event is by express permission (i.e. payment or ticketed entry).

Several Partner organisations have been involved in the consultation process and continue to make representations regarding clarity of the detailed provisions.

The draft bill will now be scrutinised by the Home Affairs Select Committee before a final version is drawn up.

As more guidance becomes available, we will ensure Partners are kept fully briefed.
