beam shortlisted for Best UK Association at Association Excellence Awards

beam has been named a finalist in the Best UK Association (up to 1,500 members) category at the 2026 Association Excellence Awards.

The shortlisting recognises beam’s continued development as a member-led association and its contribution to the UK business events sector through advocacy, collaboration, professional standards and member engagement.

Founded in 1997 as the Hotel Booking Agents Association, beam has evolved to represent 856 active members across the business events community, including agencies, venues, hotels, and event suppliers.

The association is led by a voluntary board of directors who bring experience from across the business events sector. Alongside their day jobs, they oversee beam’s strategic direction, lead member initiatives and working groups, and ensure the association remains closely connected to the issues affecting its members.

David Tremmil, Chair of beam, said:

“This shortlisting belongs to everyone who gives their time and expertise to beam. Our directors take on a considerable commitment alongside their day jobs, supported by members who contribute through our working groups and initiatives.

“That willingness to step forward and play an active role is what keeps beam relevant and responsive. Being named a finalist is a proud moment for the whole association and recognition of what can be achieved when an industry works together.”

The recognition follows another significant year for beam, including the introduction of an enhanced framework for professional and responsible business practice. This brings together its updated Code of Practice, Good Business Conduct Policy and Responsible Industry Charter, developed with members and industry partners.

beam has also continued to strengthen the industry’s collective voice by working alongside fellow associations on shared priorities, contributing to government consultations and representing the sector through the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events.

As beam approaches its 30th anniversary, the association remains focused on supporting its members, raising industry standards and helping to shape a stronger future for the UK business events sector.
