HTS achieves prestigious Greengage ECOsmart certification for 2024

HTS (Hotel and Travel Solutions) has achieved Greengage ECOsmart certification for 2024. The recognition affirms the travel management company’s commitment to embedding sustainability into its operations and highlights its efforts to reduce its environmental impact.

The Greengage ECOsmart certification is awarded to organisations that demonstrate robust, sustainable practices in their day-to-day business activities. HTS underwent a comprehensive evaluation of its internal practices, including resource management, energy efficiency, waste reduction, and readiness to adapt to climate challenges to achieve this status.

HTS’s managing director, Julie Shorrock, expressed her pride in the achievement: “We’re proud that HTS has achieved the Greengage ECOsmart certification – it demonstrates our commitment to more sustainable operations. And from reducing waste and energy consumption in our offices to encouraging a culture of sustainability among our staff, we continually seek ways to lessen our environmental footprint. This accreditation underpins the hard work of our entire team and sets a clear path for us to grow as a sustainable business.”

Andrew Perolls, CEO of Greengage, praised HTS’s dedication, saying, “HTS has demonstrated a commendable commitment to improving its sustainability practices. From implementing thoughtful operational changes to embedding sustainability into its culture, the company sets an excellent example of how businesses in the travel and events sector can lead by example. Their certification is well-earned.”

Lauren Hughes, HTS’s sustainability champion, emphasised the personal and collective drive within the company to make sustainability a core focus: “Sustainability is at the heart of how we work at HTS. Every step makes a difference, from swapping single-use plastics for reusable alternatives in the office to implementing policies encouraging greener commuting and minimising paper use. Achieving the ECOsmart certification is a proud moment for all of us, but we know the work doesn’t stop here—we’re excited to continue learning and improving.”

HTS’s journey toward certification involved implementing a range of measures to reduce its environmental footprint. These included switching to renewable energy sources for its offices, adopting digital-first workflows to minimise paper usage, and ensuringcomprehensive recycling programmes. The company has also rolled out training programs to ensure employees can make sustainable decisions.

This achievement marks a significant milestone in HTS sustainability journey and reflects its commitment to leading by example in the travel and events industry.
