Switch Management purchases the Queens Hotel & Spa in Bournemouth

Switch Management Ltd, a Birmingham-based asset management company, has made its first hotel acquisition, having purchased the Queens Hotel & Spa in Bournemouth for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition of Queens Hotel & Spa will help to secure the long-term future of the property and its 68 employees, after the hotel fell into administration in March 2024.

Located on East Cliff, the property is situated just a few minutes’ walk from Bournemouth’s Blue Flag beaches and popular visitor attractions, providing an ideal base to explore the natural beauty of the south coast.

With 109 ensuite rooms and suites, the hotel boasts a prime coastal location, with facilities including an indoor swimming pool, spa and wellness centre, garden and an on-site restaurant & bar. The site is also an established events venue, with indoor and outdoor spaces catering for up to 200 guests.

Switch currently manages a number of hospitality sites across the Midlands, including the landmark Park Regis Birminghamaparthotel Birmingham and luxury serviced apartments at St Martin’s Place

Under its new ownership, Queens Hotel & Spa will undergo significant short and long-term redevelopment projects to reposition the hotel in line with Switch’s award-winning hospitality management portfolio, with a focus on enhancing its weddings and corporate events proposition.

John Angus, Managing Director of Switch Management Ltd, said:

“As our first hotel acquisition, Queens Hotel & Spa represents an important investment for the business as we continue to expand and diversify our service offering, with a focus on prime locations across the UK.

“Marking a fresh chapter in the hotel’s history, we’re proud to build a positive future for the property and its employees. With our proven hospitality expertise and dedicated team, we’re committed to delivering the ‘Switch gold standard’ of exceptional service at every touchpoint, whilst creating a guest experience that is unique to the history and spirit of Bournemouth.

“Our ability to respond to evolving market demand and increase value is reflected in the strong performance of our award-winning hospitality assets. By delivering the highest standards of quality, service and sustainability that Switch is known for, we look forward to bringing a first-class hospitality offer to Bournemouth, its residents and visitors.”
