Warbrook House Achieves Greengage ECOsmart Silver Award

Warbrook House Heritage Hotel has been awarded the Greengage ECOsmart Silver Award, recognising the hotel’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible hospitality.

The ECOsmart certification is an internationally recognised accreditation programme that assesses hotels and venues against a range of environmental, social and sustainability criteria. Achieving Silver status reflects the significant progress Warbrook House has made in embedding sustainable practices across its operations.

Set within 121 acres of Grade II listed gardens in Hampshire, Warbrook House has implemented a range of initiatives designed to reduce its environmental impact, from improving energy efficiency and reducing waste to encouraging sustainable travel and responsible sourcing.

The achievement forms part of a wider sustainability programme across the Countrywide Hotels portfolio. Countrywide Hotels actively supports its member properties on their sustainability journey, helping hotels implement meaningful environmental initiatives and achieve recognised accreditation standards. Across the collection, 5 hotels have achieved ECOsmart bronze status, 11 have achieved silver status and 1 has achieved Platinum status, demonstrating the group’s ongoing commitment to responsible hospitality.

Matthew Woolhouse, General Manager at Warbrook House Heritage Hotel, said:

“We are thrilled to have achieved the Greengage ECOsmart Silver Award. Sustainability is a key focus for the business, and this recognition reflects the dedication of our team and the positive steps we have taken across the hotel. As custodians of a historic property, we recognise the importance of operating responsibly and making meaningful changes that benefit both our guests and the environment. We are proud of what we have achieved so far and look forward to building on this success as we continue our sustainability journey.”

Andy Lowe, Regional Operations Director at Countrywide Hotels, added:

“It has been fantastic to support the team at Warbrook House on their journey to achieving Silver ECOsmart status. The award is a reflection of the commitment shown across the hotel to embedding sustainable practices into day-to-day operations while maintaining the exceptional standards guests expect. Sustainability is an increasingly important consideration for leisure, corporate and event customers alike, and achievements such as this demonstrate that responsible hospitality and outstanding guest experiences can go hand in hand.”

The accreditation further strengthens Warbrook House’s credentials as a sustainable destination for corporate events, conferences, weddings and leisure stays, as demand continues to grow for venues that can demonstrate independently verified environmental commitments. The hotel remains committed to building on its sustainability initiatives and progressing further on its ECOsmart journey in the years ahead.
